TMB : exploring an alien planet
This is a sticky post. It will stay up until the 31st of december 09.
I’ve decided to do one of those because I thought it would be good to keep track of things I read/watched/experienced over a year.

5th-Jul-2009 11:06 pm - Japan Expo
Watchmen : Team Fluffy
So yesterday I went to the Japan Expo, it's this big Anime/Manga convention happening every year near Paris.

I haven't been in 3 years because I lost interest in those things but this year a professor of mine could get us in for free because he was doing a conference so I decided to go with a school friend.

I was there for 3 reasons : I wanted to say hi to [info]sambre because I hadn't seen her in ages, I wanted to start giving my CV to some of the publishing houses here and I wanted to check out the new comic con part because Jamie Bamber was a guest for the first edition.

All three went really well. We stayed a bit for my professor's presentation to cheer him on when it was his turn to speak, I got to chat and squee with sambre about various fannish things, 6 publishing houses accepted my CV and I finally found where Jamie Bamber was hidden in this godforsaken gigantic place.

The "french comic con" part was ridiculously tiny and ten times less crowded than the rest of the con which meant, to my delight, that we were only three at the time to see Jamie.

There were no security guys to move us along and you could basically come up to him and chat for as long as you wished. We got to chat 5 minutes because I'm always awkward in those situations but he was extremely nice and his blue eyes drilled holes into my skull. We talked (in french since he's fluent) about the BSG event held in Paris last april, which we both really enjoyed, and I once again said that I really liked him as Matt in Law & Order UK. I told him that it's not my usual kind of show but that I found the stories very gripping and interesting. He said with a smirk that it wasn't his kind of show either which made me laugh.
Then I felt bold enough to tell him that I started watching mostly for Freema and he made this 'oh right' face at me, smiled and said "très jolie fille" (very pretty girl). I started grinning like a loon and hold myself from shouting "DUDE INORITE I AM SO GAY FOR HER YOU HAVE NO IDEA" and said "ooooooh yes" instead. He then signed my BSG s3 boxset and my friend took a pic with his hotness hovering over me and the table.

Jamie Bamber and a lunatic Freema fangirl )

We then continued to walk through the huge crowd and the unbearable heat until we found some junk to buy. I got myself a bag, two keychains and a phone charm and I was proud not to give in and buy a manga.

We crossed this awesome dude cosplayed as Rorschach and I asked Adeline to take his picture because despite the fact that he was surely half dead in his costume, he looked completely fierce.

Rorschach ! )

I found it amusing that he was hanging out with the Joker and Beatrix Kiddo XD
LoM : UST much ?
LET ME DEMONSTRATE HOW HOT IT IS IN PICTURE FORMAT :

John S. hotass with a sword
I'm having this awesome trip to Scotland planned with some fellow fangirls in august and I decided to watch or rewatch some films like Braveheart or Highlander to get me in the mood before we go. I was chatting with a coworker and he was scandilized that I had never seen Rob Roy so he lent it to me.

IT WAS SO AWESOME <3

Liam Neeson and Tim Roth were magnificent and made me flail into oblivion. Also, they had the BEST SWORD FIGHT EVER.

Of course the most spectacular scene for me was Liam Neeson getting out of that lake stark naked. What a fine human specimen indeed *__*

25th-Jun-2009 09:50 pm - NEW HEADER : YOU HAZ IT.
DW : Ten destroyed
My final two oral exams went really well and my course is definitely and officially over !
I'll know if I have that bloody diploma on the 8th of July and I'll still have to complete my apprenticeship since my contract ends at the beginning of september. After that I'll be able to know the joys of unemployment and job hunting ! *iz nonetheless stupidly happy*

So like I said last week, I took my first real opportunity of guilt free procrastination to make a new header. It turned out a bit angsty but hum, you know, omg *dies*

I was tempted by MGG and A2A but in the end old obsessions die hard and I am convinced that this header will be relevant to my interests til the end of the year, at least *excited grin*

What else can I say... I'm meeting with [info]fairy_bliss tomorrow to see the Hangover and I'm going to [info]angeliksmall's birthday party on saturday <3

I also watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (still <3) today and I intend to rewatch the other 4 before Half Blood Prince comes out.

21st-Jun-2009 08:29 pm - So here it comes the sound of drums.
DW : Ten/Master true love hurts
I'm a bit busy at the mo because I have two major oral exams next week to prepare and it's hard because I've become so FED UP with my technical project that keeping reading about it makes me almost sick :/
What's good though is that those are the only two exams left before I can just chill and do nothing apart from fangirling all day and enjoying the sun... And work since I'm on holidays in august but let's not think about that.

On a more YAY front I'm rewatching Torchwood series 2 to prepare myself for COE and it is mostly win. I remembered how much hardcore Owen had become and how foxy Martha was in those episodes (and their cute doctors banter omg <3).

I've also found my love back for my true OTP aka Doctor/Master thanks to Chasing the Paradox which is A-MA-ZING. It's long and so well written. The plot is full of wibbly wobbly timey wimey goodness and the Doctor and the Master are incredibly true to character. I'm in the middle of it and it's really hard to focus on work related things, to be honest.

Funny how the Criminal Minds fandom made me forget that brilliant fic authors could exist somewhere !

So I was falling in love with them all over again which meant that I randomly felt the urge to rewatch Utopia/Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords last night and you know what ? IT WAS SO AWESOME THAT I WAS FLAILING ALL OVER THE PLACE. A bit like if I was watching them for the first time. Sure, LOTL has some ridiculous moments but it's lulzy and the good stuff easily outweights the bad. By that I mean MARFA'S INCREDIBLE AMAZINGNESS AND ALL OF THE DOC/MASTER TEXT. It still made me cry twice and I loved that it could still have this effect on me despite the fact that I knew what would come next.
Idk, I think this is my favourite series ending of Nu Who. I always thought it was Parting of the Ways because it's less ridiculous in the end but I have less flail for it, too.

Anyway, next thursday will mean FREEDOM for me and I will probably use that free time to do a new header or something, the Boosh one is SERIOUSLY out of date by now.

OH AND CHECK OUT MY NEW MOODTHEME OF WIN. IT IS SO FIERCE THAT YOU CAN'T LOOK DIRECTLY AT IT FOR TOO LONG.

  • 13:20 TW s2 isn't always good. Forgot the Gray storyline and John & Gareth's terrible attempts at crying are always hilarious instead of sad :/ #
